The Parks and Forestry office (325 N. Paul Laurence Dunbar Street, 937-333-5300) maintains 66 parks that encompass 930 acres throughout the city of Dayton. Parks are open annually from April 1st through October 31st and offer a wide variety of playing fields.

Services include:
n Park cleaning and mowing -- Parks are mowed and cleaned as needed or on a bi-weekly basis.
n Athletic fields -- 93 athletic fields are prepared for all games and tournaments scheduled.
n Street and park trees -- Over 87,000 street trees are maintained throughout the city in addition to 2,400 trees in 66 different parks.
n Holiday Festival lighting downtown -- The holiday tree at Courthouse Square is decorated with over 48,000 lights, trees around the Square with over 66,000 lights totaling over 114,000 lights.
n Facilities maintenance and snow removal at parks and recreation centers 19 recreation centers, 53 park shelters, 49 playgrounds and all fences are maintained as needed.
n Right-of-ways -- 64 right-of-ways are mowed four times annually and cleaned monthly.
n Greenhouse/Tree Nursery -- Trees and flowers are grown at our Nursery and Greenhouse for park plantings and community groups. The Self-Help Tree Program charges $30.00 per tree. Applications will be available at your Priority Board beginning in July.
