
Major Matt Carper
West Patrol Operations Division
Major Matt Carper has been with the Dayton Police Department for 20 years. He graduated from the Dayton Police Academy in 1992, and served as a patrol officer in the Second District as well as an appointment to the Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT).
In January of 1999, he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and had various assignments including: Fifth District, Strike Force Unit, Drug Unit and Acting Watch Commander. In June of 2003, Major Carper was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and served as Commander of the Central Business District, Narcotics Bureau, and Professional Standards Bureau.
Major Carper has received numerous citations and commendations. He holds an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice, and is a graduate of the Police Executive Leadership College.
