"HONORING FAMILY"

He was a father, a husband, a son.
She was a wife, a mother, a friend.
Each was loving and loved, every one
a treasured life brought to a tragic end.

Some had their lives stolen violently;
others were lost while responding "Code 3".
They died as they lived:  selflessly,
"to serve and protect" you and me.

So we pledge to remember you that gave all.
Your names will be etched on our hallowed wall,
tears shed at your funerals and again each year
as your names are called out from the roll we revere.

But beyond this remembrance to assuage the cost,
we’ll strive to ensure that all is not lost.
For, on each officer’s mind as they drew their last breath,
was their family´s pain in the wake of their death.

To honor them now means more than remembering,
it is helping, praying, giving and tending
those left with unspeakable voids in their lives,
grieving children, parents, husbands and wives.

Thus, valiant heroes, rest in peace for all time,
loved ones safe with your brethren on the blue line.
And to honor you, we your family in blue
vow to care for them 'til God restores them to you.

Rest in Peace, Valiant and Honored Brothers and Sisters.
