·           Even if you don't owe income tax, you can get the EITC. But, you must file a tax return.

·           If you were raising children in 2007, file Federal tax return Forms 1040 or 1040A -- not 1040EZ.  Be sure to attach Schedule EIC.

·           If you weren’t raising children in 2007, just file any Federal tax return.

·           The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program is a free service sponsored by the IRS to help people fill out their tax forms.
