The Department of Law provides legal advice and counsel to the City Manager, Commissioners and Directors of the City of Dayton.
The attorneys of the Department of Law, acting on behalf of the City Attorney, handle all litigation on behalf of or against the City, render legal opinions, review contracts, prepare ordinances and resolutions, and acquire real property.
The Department of Law is also responsible for the prosecution of all misdemeanor criminal and traffic cases in the Dayton Municipal Court under City ordinances or State statutes.
