Welcome From Chief Redden

Chief Herbert C Redden II

Thank you for your interest in the Dayton Fire Department. We trust that you will find valuable information that may allow you to be better informed on the operations of this department. The professional men and women of the Dayton Fire Department are truly dedicated to our mission: preservation of life, protection of property and mitigation of emergencies. We attempt to accomplish our mission through each bureau of the department.

The Dayton Fire Department prides itself on being a highly professional organization. Our committed personnel provide outstanding emergency and non-emergency services in a variety of activities, city-wide as well as regionally, to include: fire suppression, hazardous material mitigation, rescue operations, apparatus and facility maintenance, fire prevention/investigations, automatic mutual aid response to other jurisdictions, communication processes and emergency medical care and transportation, to list a few.

Almost invariably, the citizens of Dayton recognize and appreciate our efforts. The Dayton Fire Department consistently achieves a satisfaction rating of greater than 94 percent in a bi-annual survey. The citizens of Dayton continue to place their trust in us on a daily basis and are satisfied with the results.

Again, thank you for visiting our site. The images on this page are from actual DFD responses and give you a first-hand look at incidents that we see every day!
