Dayton Fire Training Center

District Chief David Kimbler

The Dayton Fire Training Center was established in its current form in the early 1960's.  Since that time, officers from the Dayton Fire Department have provided a wide array of training missions.  The ever-rotating staff ensures that the Dayton Fire Department remains at the forefront of Fire/EMS service techniques, technologies, and safety initiatives.  The Training Center operations are currently under the guidance of District Chief David Kimbler.

The DFD Training center, located at 200 McFadden Avenue, is home to numerous facilities that serve the department's multi-faceted training regimen.  Located on nearly 13 acres, the TC Grounds are comprised of:

Also located on the grounds of the Dayton Fire Training Center is the headquarters for Ohio Task Force-1 (OTF-1), the state's urban search and rescue team (USAR).  This team responds when called to sites of natural disasters or other mass casualty emergency.  The Dayton Fire Department is an integral part of the OTF-1 operation and actively supports management of the team.  The team is made up of individuals from accross the region, including several members of the Dayton Fire Department.

In addition to conducting in-service training for DFD members, the Training Center staff schedules and conducts training and supervision of training for other local departments.  There are fees associated with usage of the Fire Training Center.  For more information on utilizing one of the most complete fire service training facilities in the region, please contact the Training Center at (937) 333-3139.

The Training Center staff also coordinates and conducts DFD Recruit Class Training.  For more information on becoming a Dayton Firefighter click here.
