The Special Investigations Division is Managed by Major E. Mitchell Davis.
As Superintendent of Special Investigations, it is my goal to reduce crime in the City of Dayton and surrounding areas. This reduction will then hopefully lead to enhanced safety and a better quality of life for the citizens of Dayton.
It is our mission to conduct thorough follow-up investigations on all reported criminal matters that are generated by Patrol Operations personnel. Special Investigations detectives pursue appropriate charges with the Prosecutors’ Offices and navigate the charges through the courts.
The Vice/Narcotics Bureau conducts both citizen-generated and self-initiated investigations involving drug, prostitution, alcohol and gambling related crimes.
Bureaus work closely with Federal, State and local jurisdictions to combat criminal matters in a united effort.
The Special Investigations Division oversees several investigative units comprised of personnel who have specialized investigative training and skills in the following fields:
- Homicide

- Crimes Against Children
